Ty at CRS
Hello my friends- Music often doesn't have a face. It's about listening to voices. Whether you hear voices of DJs or artists singing the songs on your local radio station, it's a relationship between fans, radio and artists that is all built on the likes and dislikes of voices. As an artist, we do the very best we can to get out there across the country to push a song we believe radio and listeners will like, but there is nothing like shaking the hand and looking in the eye of a person prior you had only known through what you heard . That was and is the beautiful thing about CRS (Country Radio Seminar)!
This past week was CRS week here in Nashville! It was such a humbling experience to be in the presence of so many talented people. We kicked CRS off with the Country Music D.J. Hall of Fame dinner on Tuesday night. Many other country artists attended to pay homage to the voices which have had so much impact on our careers and shaping the country music we all know and love today! I had the honor to sit at the table with the Program Director for KEAN in Abilene, TX, Rudy Fernandez, who was one of the inductees of this year’s Hall of Fame! One of my favorite parts of this job is putting a face to a name and a voice. He was interesting to talk to and just to see him sitting there with his family who joined him in support, it was awesome! All of a sudden he's not just the man playing my single in Abilene, he is a person that I had the pleasure of spending a special evening with. A father, husband, friend and unbelievable talent and passion for what he does. He is a good man and now I can call him a friend. That's an amazing thing! He is just one example of so many wonderful people in Country Music. All of us are now living in this hi-tech world: websites and artists, magazines and artists, fans and artists, fans and radio! It is important to remember that it takes everyone working together to provide the best all-around product and examples we can for you guys, the fans. Can't wait to get back out on the road and meet as many of you as possible and share our music with anyone who will listen! A personal moment that I will look back fondly was early in the morning before our first interview, I got to meet Lynn Anderson and Bryan White (such inspirations to me) while Trailer Choir put on a little accapella show! It was awesome! I got the day started off right! We spent the last week giving interviews and just had a chance to relax and have a party with the people that work so hard throughout the year to keep Country Music alive. A special thanks to Robert Reynolds from the Mavericks, Digital Rodeo, Stephanie and Craig with Yallwire, The Road, Matt Bjorke and Roughstock, everyone from Aristo Media, Cherry Heart, Lofton Creek, Mike Hammond and Rudy Fernandez, Lisa Bell, Jon and Jeff Walker at everyone at Aristo, Jim Quinton at WPPL, Steve Martin and Lexington Broadcasting and so many others!
It was a great week, and I am so thankful to have been a part of it this year! Now it's time to make sure that all of those relationships made during CRS and the optimistic energy into full gear......summer’s right around the corner! Peace and love to you all.....stay warm and safe!
